Ken Watt

The NON Award (Now Over Ninety) is a Valentine Men's Probus Award for Nonagenarians.
Ken (Canice) Watt is the 3rd recipient of this award having attained the age of 90 on 5th February 2017.
Ken was born at Cooks Hill.
His first job was with B Goldring doing warehousing and deliveries.
From 1942 to 1947 he was a Railway Fitter & Machinist at Cardiff Workshops.
He also worked at Port Waratah and Newcastle Dockyard in that role.
Ken married Joyce on 30th August 1952.
In 1956 he completed his Leaving Certificate and obtained a scholarship at the Teachers College in 1958.
In 1959 he became an Industrial Arts Teacher.
Ken retired in 1986 and then did part time work for 5 years with the Newcastle Teachers College.
Ken & Joyce have 4 children plus 13 grandchildren and 5¾ great grandchildren.
